As I read the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, I saw how Gatsby's character reflected on Americans today. The way they described his desire to be with Daisy. It is similar to how Americans would do anything to get what they want. Its a way of desire, the way we all want things and think we can get it easily if we could just change the past. We Americans have an obsession to get what we want, and we think we could get it easily. Gatsby does symbolize our American culture, he is just like us we all want things in life.
Gatsby just wanted to get everything he wanted by using his money. He thought money was gong to get him what he wanted. Americans also think that, they think that money can solve all their problems in the world. But I believe that money is just money it sometimes cannot get you what you want in life. We are all ambitious to get everything in life. We might go through some struggles to get what we want but we try everything. Gatsby was one those people, he got money and thought it was going to get easy from there that Daisy was going to back with him easily. But he fell for that trap, Daisy at the end of the day didn't even love him anymore. He ended up dying being in love, thinking that if he could of just tried harder he would get her, that she still loved him, that what she said was not true. Money there, did not solve his ambition for love.
Americans in today's society can get what they want with money, but not always. You see, there is always going to be a struggle in life, and getting what you want is definitely harder than it seems. I don't know why Gatsby thought it was going to be easy with the money he had. People just used him, he didn't even have anybody who really cared about him. In today's society people use you for your money so they can get what they want in life. In the same way I feel like Daisy wanted to use Gatsby, but now that she realized what she actually wanted in life, she realized she did not want Gatsby. Gatsby was just a toy for her, she played with his feelings and told him she loved him. But Gatsby still did not understand, for some reason he thought Daisy would go back to him.
Daisy and Gatsby represent the ambitions of society today because they think getting what they want will be easy. Everybody in this world just wants money and think that will buy them happiness. I think that's what Gatsby thought, that money would buy him happiness with Daisy. All Daisy thought about was herself. All she cared about was herself, which represents the selfishness of the society today. People in this society just think about themselves and not about the others. There is also people who make others clean up their mess, which is what Daisy does. This shows how society can be messed up just like the book "The Great Gatsby".
Overall, the character Gatsby from the book "The Great Gatsby" reflects on American's dreams and society. It also shows how we Americans can be selfish and ambitious, and how we try to get what we want. It also shows how we think money can solve all of our problems in life.
